Yay, I made it a week! I really wanted one week to be perfect. Just to give me a good restart. I'm reminding myself that this journey is far, far from perfect. I just must not quit! It's for a lifetime.
I blog on a Microsoft Surface Pro, which is really cool in some ways, but in others, very confusing and frustrating. I keep thinking if I will spend some time going through a user's manual that I may like this machine much better than I do presently. But today, I learned a perhaps awkward way to get a photo to this blog, so that was a good step.
As the title shows, this is a pretty good "before" picture, showing me at around my highest weight. It was taken in the spring of 2019, maybe 15, 16 months ago. It was made during the time that I just hardly ever, ever left the house. My young second cousin was in town for a book signing for a wonderful children's book. I had forgotten about it. Jake came in late morning or noonish and reminded me of it. Well, I had not washed my hair in a long time and would not dare go out in public like that. But I managed to shower, wash my hair, dry, style, make up, etc. in about 90 minutes and arrives late but in time to attend the function. It's obvious that I badly needed a trip to my stylist to have a cut and my roots done.
It's weird, because when I got around Jordan and his family, some of my very favorite cousins, I "came alive" like I usually do in public and totally enjoyed the get-together. But I couldn't wait to get back home to my cave. I wonder how many others are like that.
I am close to 20 pounds under my highest weight, so I should look a bit smaller than this. I'm not ready to post a current picture.

I did make it up and to church this morning, even arrived 15 minutes early. I still feel somewhat numb and detached, but it was nice. I am so ready to feel some true elation and excitement. (I do have brief moments like that.😏 I'm getting there.) I almost always make a point to hang around afterward and visit with as many people as I can. I didn't stay as long today as I usually do, but I did stay awhile.
The rest of the day has been super lazy, mostly watching football in this very strange Covid-19 season. I was actually a bit surprised at how "well" it was done with no fans in the stands and canned background crowd noises. Something new to watch anyway.
After the games were over, I was really stiff and decided to walk around my cul-de-sac. It feels very safe even though it was around 11:00 p.m. I did three laps including going a block on each side of the cul-de-sac. Not that far, but it was definitely a walk. It felt so good. We have been having 100s and upper 90s for temps until several days ago, when we had a huge cold front, dropping us down into the 40s and low 50s. Freaky but welcomed by me. I absolutely love fall weather! The high today was in the low 80s, so it was nice and cool by 10:30, plus a few drops of rain fell while I was walking. I hope that I get to really enjoy these walks pretty soon.
My food today: I had a banana after church, then Jake picked up lunch from Chicken Express, and I had the fried catfish filets. Two huge filets for only 4 points! It was a good choice. I got corn-on-the-cob for the side. I should have left the yeast roll alone, but ate it for 4 more points, plus a tiny bit of tartar sauce for 1 more point. For dinner I had a turkey breast sandwich and a smoothie made from some frozen fruit, yogurt, and low-fat milk, with a little bit of SF lime jello powder and Splenda added. Evening snacks: light English Muffin w/ Brummel & Brown and grape jelly and a pb&j sandwich. I had a lot of weekly points left, but I didn't use them all. I probably should most weeks, but I'm not near as active as I should be.
So tomorrow is the beginning of my second week back on track. We will have a trip out of town on Friday or Saturday and stay through at least Wednesday. We are staying with two of our grandkids while their parents go on a retreat. I will have to plan ahead and take plenty of zero-point foods with me. They live in the Texas Hill Country on a very hilly road in the country, so I can take some good walks. I do have to watch my knees on these steep slopes. Evening walks are not advisable because the skunks come out, and I have phobias about those, lol!
I don't always do well on out-of-town trips, but we'll see how I do. I do want to focus on the first part of the week and increase my activity: longer walks and maybe more chores. It would also be good to add some more fluids. I don't drink near enough, especially water.
Time to sign out.
