Day 25

Well, I would say that today was not exactly a raving success.  I had a banana and oatmeal (boring?) for breakfast.

I've been feeling like I needed to make some more of my 10,000 steps more about housework, lol.  So instead of just walking, I did the dishes, cleaned the stove top, dusted, laundry, and a few other things.

When I started to get hungry again, I made a corn and black bean salsa, which I like to put on salads.  I also sautéed some more squash, red pepper, mushrooms and onions.  Then I had a big salad with spring greens, the salsa (which also had jalapeno, tomatoes and cucumbers, garlic, cilantro and lime), the sautéed veggies, avocado, and some regular salsa plus a little bit of ranch dressing.  About the time I finished it, I suddenly felt exhausted  I don't know what the deal was.

I went ahead and had a small bowl of Grapenuts with raisins, to see if I just needed more calories.  Then I tried doing my jogging to see if that would help since it would increase my circulation.  It was all I could do to jog the 14 minutes; I just felt weak and yes, exhausted.  I did feel kind of feverish today; maybe that was a clue.

The rest of the day, I did eat more than usual.  I think fatigue may be my very biggest trigger to eat, but I may have needed it.  I had a peanut butter sandwich, a small handful of almonds.  Then for dinner, I made a small waffle.  Not the best choice, but I was curious to see how I felt after I ate it.  Right now, I'm wondering if I just had a fibro-flare.  With fibromyalgia, I will have days when symptoms just flare up out of nowhere.  Most times, it is with a low-grade fever; and I definitely felt feverish today.  It's been a very long time since I had one.

I think I'm okay on the calories, probably on the high end of 1600, which is fine.  I need a day like that fairly often.  My WW points are way over my daily, using up quite a bit of weeklies, but I have had a lot of steps logged this week.

I only logged about 6600 today, which is my lowest in a while.

I got a phone call from my youngest son and his wife (Jared and Kari).  They were coming for a week to stay; then plans changed, and it was only going to be Jared.  Now, they changed again and everyone is coming.  It will be great fun, but will definitely change up my week and schedule.  Fortunately, I don't feel like I have to go to extremes to clean and cook.  Just enough to be comfortable; and they are always a great help.  But I do have things I need to do to get ready.

Hopefully, tomorrow will go better. . . .

Day Six

Woke up about 10:30 after a very late night, just couldn't fall asleep. Had a Cliff bar early as usual.  Had carrots, grapes, chips and salsa for lunch.  A few animal crackers before dinner, then chicken breast, green peppers and onions, greens, queso, Mexican rice, Oreos, chocolate covered pretzels.   Ok, tomorrow, I'm going to try to watch my snacking tomorrow.  Let's see how I do. No walking, but we went to our storage and dug out household stuff, so I did get some exercise.   One regular Diet Coke, one Zevia, quite a bit of water.

Day 5 - Some New Steps

A little more background: During this funk I was in, I stopped doing almost everything.  All I wanted to do was stay in bed, or if up, watch TV or read.  That's a terrible place to be.  I suspect many of us have given up on life for at least brief times in our lives.  I don't have to work, and there was very, very little I absolutely had to do.  Any trips out of the house were usually to the grocery store.  When we traveled to see the kids, I would manage to come "alive" for a few days, and then go back to my hole when we returned home.  I guess it's a perfect description of depression.   Jake didn't pressure me, pretty much left me alone.  I was glad about that, though I did from time to time tell him what was going on with me.  I just could think of nothing I wanted to do, interested in nothing.  I tried to keep my communication with God open and honest, so I least I wasn't totally hiding from Him.   If something ne...

Days 27 and 28

The last two days are not really worth recording.   This is like one of those times in the past when I arrived at a point where I never got back on track, and my aim is to change that pattern.  So many times in the past when I would start on Weight Watchers, I would be perfect for the first three weeks or so.  Then as soon as I cheated the first time, it seemed like I could never get back on track.  And then I would quit.  That perfection thinking defeated me. Also, the first time I had a weigh-in day when I knew or thought I would be up on the scales, I would not go to that meeting because I wanted a loss every time I went.  Then the next week might be worse, and the missed meetings would stretch out until I finally just quit. Now it's very obvious to me why I have not succeeded in the past.  With those kinds of expectations, who can measure up?  Any kind of journey is dotted with slipups and failures, usually many, along the way....
